A former member of the Executive Council of the GFA, Sammy Anim Addo, says Matthew Anim Cudjoe deserves to play for the Black Stars because his qualities match that of Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United.
Anim Cudjoe who played for Asante Kotoko at the tender age of 16 was touted as the next big thing to hit Ghana football due to his dribbling skills and other sterling qualities on the pitch.
Now 21 years old, Cudjoe was a member of the Ghana national U-20 football team at the 2019 African Games. He was also a member of the Black Satellites at the WAFU B U-20 championship in 2020 where he played in all matches at the tournament helping the team to finish as champions of West Africa Zone B and qualify for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations
However, Anim Cudjoe is still waiting for his debut call-up to the senior national team.
His manager, Anim Addo, who spoke to Luv FM in Kumasi, says the former Dundee United attacker is the only Ghanaian player who matches the quality of Mohammed Kudus and therefore deserves an invitation to the Black Stars to replace Kudus whenever the West Ham player is not having a good day.
“The boy’s talent is beyond normal, if you look at Mohammed Kudus in the Black Stars my son is the only one in Ghana who has those qualities that Kudus possesses. If we give him the opportunity and he gets the right environment and the right structure Matthew should be on the Black Stars team minimum as a bench player.
“The day Kudus is not sparkling and needs to be substituted Matthew is the player we should be thinking of because all those qualities Kudus has Matthew has it too. Matthew is fearless and you know it, it's not easy to get young chaps with that kind of mentality and heart and we need to use them,” he stressed.
Anim Addo, who is the owner and bankroller of newly promoted Ghana premier league side, Wenchi Young Apostles, is certain Matthew Cudjoe will make a big difference and bring a lot of value to the Black Stars team when he is eventually invited.
“He has said it himself that the day he will play for the Black Stars he will make a big difference and I believe too. Unless God says no, but as far as God is alive Matthew will play for the Black Stars and bring a lot of value to the team. Those qualities the boy has if he is given the opportunity people will marvel.
“Like I keep telling you just watch the shape of the Black Stars, if we don’t have Mohammed Kudus tell me anyone that you know in Ghana who has those qualities of Matthew Cudjoe,” he quizzed.
Matthew Anim Cudjoe is expected to move from Scotland after failing to agree personal terms with Dundee United, the club he helped gain promotion back to the Scottish top flight.
