The Mamprugu Moagduri District Football Association (MMDFA) has been inaugurated to oversee the development of football in the area.
The association was launched on Monday, 5th August 2024, by the Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhizo, alongside the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif.
Ussif, instrumental in the establishment of the MMDFA, encouraged the executives to cultivate talent that could thrive both nationally and internationally.
Expressing his delight, Ussif remarked, "I am quite happy today. We began this journey to create our District Football Association office long ago. I engaged the Ghana Football Association (GFA), our regional FA Chairman Alhaji Rhizo, and today, we finally have our own office.

"Since I arrived, I have had numerous discussions with the executives on how we can nurture talents and grow sports in this district and beyond. Football is the most loved and patronised sport in the country. People often jokingly say that all 33 million Ghanaians are coaches. This passion stems from our love for football.
"However, we must remember that we also have boxing, athletics, and many other disciplines, but today, we have taken a significant step for football. Let this association serve its purpose and benefit our people," he said.
Ussif, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Yagaba/Kubori constituency, called on leaders of the association to eschew unhealthy politics that could lead to the collapse of the group.

"I would like to emphasise that this association has no political colours or affiliations. We cannot afford to bring politics into it, as that would cause its downfall.
"We must remain united. Although we may belong to different parties, our focus should be on how the association and our district benefit, regardless of which party is in power.
"I urge all of us to stay united in achieving our ultimate goal of developing the youth in this district. If we succeed, history will remember us. If we fail, people will question what I did for our community during my tenure as Sports Minister ten years on from today."
Ussif also called for the immediate initiation of a district football league, stating, "We need to start a league as soon as possible. Even if we can't this year, next year, we should have a league in this district."

The Northern Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhizo, who supervised the inauguration, highlighted his achievements as a regional FA chairman. He congratulated the MMDFA for meeting expectations and thanked Minister Ussif for his key role and tireless efforts in establishing the association.
"Since assuming office in 2019, we have strived as a regional football association to ensure that football is spread across the length and breadth of this region," Rhizo said.
