The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a swipe at the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for asking Ghanaians to endorse his decision to take over the mantle from President Akufo-Addo.
According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the current Vice President's message of being a driver's mate and therefore needing elevation to the status of a driver should be rejected by the electorates.
Addressing a teeming NDC crowd in Somanya in the Yilo Krobo constituency, as part of his nationwide campaign tour, the NDC chairman said if Dr. Bawumia needed a steering wheel, he could get it from the cars he promised the Okada riders in the lead up to the 2020 elections.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia stated that the Presidency is a serious business, and must be contested for by serious minded people.
"Bawumia says he has now graduated from a mate to a driver, so he should be given the steer. Ok, if it is only a steer he wants, let me remind him to go and take it from the cars he promised the Okada riders during the 2020 campaign," he teased.
The comments follow promises made by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the last general elections.
According to the Vice President, his party was going to swap commercial motorcycles with brand new vehicles on lease basis as alternative to their business.
The Vice President had insisted that the NPP's promise was a better option than the NDC's pledge to legalise okada business.

However, with a few months to the end of the four year tenure of the government, the promise by the Vice President is yet to be fulfilled.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia also used the platform to urge the electorates to vote for the NDC MP for the area, Dr. Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey who is seeking re-election.
