President Akufo-Addo has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his unwavering loyalty and dedication to the party and the nation.
Speaking during a visit to Wa in the Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo commended Bawumia's commitment, having worked alongside him for nearly two decades in various capacities, including as vice president.
The president emphasised his confidence in Bawumia’s loyalty and abilities, stating that he has never doubted his vice president’s dedication to serving the nation.
He noted that Bawumia's track record and experience make him the ideal candidate to continue the NPP's developmental agenda.
President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to vote for Bawumia in the 2024 general elections, describing him as a leader who embodies loyalty, commitment, and a clear vision for the country’s future.
He encouraged voters to support Bawumia to ensure that the progress made under his administration continues.
In his address, the president also took the opportunity to criticize opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, arguing that Mahama lacks the vision and capability to lead the country effectively. Akufo-Addo warned against a return to the policies of the previous administration.
President Akufo-Addo concluded by reiterating his belief that Bawumia is the right choice to lead Ghana into a new era of growth and prosperity, urging the people of the Upper West Region and all Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP flagbearer in the upcoming elections.
“In the nearly 20 years that I have been working with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, I have not had one day, one occasion to doubt his loyalty, to doubt his commitment to our common goal. And I have come here to ask you for your support to make Bawumia break the 8."
“I see that the former president is saying all kinds of things about the number 8 that he chose. That it means he is going to win. Breaking the 8 and having the number 8, that is not a good sign at all," he said.
