The Ghana Country Director of Mastercard Foundation, Rica Rwigamba, has underscored her outfit's commitment to helping Ghana bridge the gap of unemployment by training youth in employable skills.
She said this informed a partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) to implement the Business In A Box (BizBox) Project, which targets to provide employable skills for 250,000 young people in Ghana by 2027.
Madam Rwigamb was addressing the graduation ceremony of some 205 artisans in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region who benefited from the project.

She expressed optimism the skills acquired by the artisans would have a positive effect on their livelihoods and that of their families as they now have the skills to engage in economic activities.
"We at the Mastercard Foundation believe that the skills you have acquired and the tools you will receive today will help you to pave the way to success as entrepreneurs”, she said.
Madam Rwigamba said the Foundation aims to build and create equal opportunities for all persons irrespective of their backgrounds or starting points across the African continent.

A Representative of the GBI Traditional Area Paramount Chief, Togbe Vule V, implored the trainees to put the tools provided to them to good use and desist from selling them.
A Representative from the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) Seth Klutse, re-echoed the need for the beneficiaries to ensure they practice what they have learnt and pass the knowledge to others to contribute to creating jobs and employment.
The Business In A Box Project which is under the auspices of the office of the Vice President was anchored on five pillars; Youth Skills Development, Access to Market, Access to Start-up Kits, Youth Social Networks and Institutional Strengthening, Policy, and Regulatory Support.
