President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the upcoming December 7 elections as a crucial moment for Ghanaians, stressing the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
According to the President, the election represents one of the most significant decisions the nation must make. He thus urged citizens to openly express their preferences and further reinforced the need for active participation in the democratic process.
Addressing various religious leaders in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, he said, “The former President [John Dramani Mahama] said that this contest is between him and Bawumia, I should keep out of it.”
The president continued that, he does not understand whether the former president meant that he [Nana Akufo-Addo] is not a citizen of Ghana.
“The most consequential decision that this generation of Ghanaians is going to make is on the 7th of December. In fact, in my view, it will be irresponsible for anybody to keep quiet about who their preference is,” he stressed.
The President claimed that he has fulfilled 80% of his promises to Ghanaians and expressed the need for a successor who will continue the progress.
He also praised the Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia saying, “Eight years in opposition, eight years in government he hasn’t seen any fault on Bawumia.
"Honestly, his yes is yes and his no is no, competent, hardworking and loyal. My government in the running of the state has such a very important quality, and especially if you are the leader, you work with people you can trust.”
