Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the special aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, claiming that its arrogance, disrespect, and failures were evident in the recent election results.
According to Mrs Mogtari, the defeat of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) reflects a repudiation of the administration’s "impunity" and "failure."
Speaking on the JoyNews AM show on December 10, she argued that former President Akufo-Addo had a unique opportunity given to him by the people of Ghana, which she believes he squandered. "He got too comfortable too early," she said. "He refused any form of advice or support."
Mrs Mogtari also highlighted the NDC's legacy of 126 E-blocks at various stages of completion, which, she claimed, the Akufo-Addo government left unfinished.
Additionally, she recounted incidents in which Akufo-Addo told chiefs in the Volta Region that they had not voted for him and similarly dismissed other chiefs, making it clear that he would not tolerate criticism or dissent.
She noted that Ghanaian voters had "come of age," referencing the tensions in parliament as another example of dissatisfaction among the electorate. "The acrimony in Parliament tells us that Ghanaians were deeply dissatisfied, to say the least," she added.
