Some motorists in the West Gonja Municipal capital of Damongo in the Savannah region are stranded due to a shortage of fuel in and around the area.
Many have been roaming fuel stations with no access to the essential commodity.
The shortage, which compelled some motorists to extend their search to other districts, is said to have affected all five fuel stations in the municipality, bringing some businesses to a halt.
Managers of some fuel stations who spoke to Myjoyonline on grounds of anonymity said the situation started a few days after the 2024 general election. “You can imagine the number of vehicles and motorbikes that were in Damongo. So, they bought all our stocks, and we are yet to take delivery for the New Year, "a source stated.
A stranded motorist, Nurudeen Alhassan, who said he travelled five kilometres to buy petrol, is worried about the quality of fuel being sold.

"I went to Fufulso Junction in search of petrol but to my surprise, it was a mixture of petrol and diesel that they sold to me", he bemoaned.
Authorities are, however, hopeful that the situation will normalise in the coming days as they expect delivery during the weekend.
A similar situation has been reported by JoyNews' correspondent in the Northern region, Martina Abugri.
She reports that the crisis, which began four days ago, has left over 11 fuel stations completely out of stock.
Only one station received fuel delivery late Thursday, January 9, but its supply is insufficient to meet the growing demand.
