As the Gaza ceasefire agreement approaches implementation, the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and as Chair of the Al-Quds Committee, welcomes the progress made towards ending the hostilities and attacks on civilians that began on October 7, 2023.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Morocco called on all Palestinian and Israeli parties to seize this opportunity for peace and to demonstrate sincere and constructive commitment, free from short-term or opportunistic considerations.
The statement further expressed Morocco’s hope that the ceasefire will be fully upheld, leading to an end to attacks on civilians, the safe return of displaced persons, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid in adequate quantities.
King Mohammed VI, in His Royal Message to the last Arab Summit, emphasized the importance of avoiding the resolution of one crisis only to enter another.
Morocco believes that the ceasefire should serve as a stepping stone towards a genuine peace process, ultimately leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully alongside Israel.
