A farmer in Tapon-Akura, a farming community in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has lost his entire yam harvest to a devastating bushfire that swept through the area.
The fire, which broke out unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, consumed the farmer’s yam barn, leaving behind widespread destruction.

The 36-year-old farmer, Tapon Nchaame, revealed that despite implementing fire belts to protect his crops, the flames proved uncontrollable.
A visit to the farm by Adom News showed that the fire not only destroyed the barn but also reduced the harvested yam tubers to ashes, dealing a significant blow to his livelihood.
Having dedicated years to cultivating his farm, Nchaame now faces an uncertain future as he struggles with the loss of his primary source of income.
He called on the government, NGOs, and philanthropic organisations to assist him in rebuilding his farm.
He also urged the police and the Ghana National Fire Service to take swift action against individuals responsible for setting bushfires.
