In a spectacular display of talent and determination, 10-year-old Tiffany Dumevi from Promise Child Academy, Afianya Mataheko, triumphed over Junior High School students to win the 2024 National Junior Spelling Bee Contest for the Grade 5-9 category.
Tiffany secured her victory by correctly spelling the championship word, "osteomalacial," on Sunday, 19th January 2025, at the GNAT Hall.
The contest drew spellers from across Ghana, with participants travelling alongside friends, coaches, and families from regions including Greater Accra, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Central, Western, Volta, and beyond.
Tiffany’s victory is particularly historic as she becomes the youngest female ever to win this prestigious title at the tender age of 10.
Overcome with emotion, Tiffany was seen in tears of joy as the pronouncer, Samuel Essah, officially declared her the champion.

Pirtel Sedem from Onyx Montessori, Kasoa secured second place, while Kacey Antwi of Royal Christian Academy, Ejuratia in the Ashanti Region claimed third position.
Eugenia Adare of Bridge Montessori, Kumasi, came fourth, with Racheal Nuamah of Martyrs of Uganda rounding out the top five.

Tiffany Dumevi was awarded a cash prize of GH¢10,000, a trophy, a medal, a tablet from Homii Mobile, a dictionary, and a citation.
Pirtel Sedem received GH¢5,000, a medal, a tablet from Homii Mobile, a dictionary, and a citation.
Kacey Antwi was presented with GH¢3,000, a medal, a tablet from Homii Mobile, a dictionary, and a citation.
The fourth and fifth-place winners also received tablets from Homii Mobile, medals, dictionaries, and citations.
Participants who finished in the sixth to tenth positions were honoured with medals, dictionaries, and citations, ensuring that every contestant was celebrated.

Homii Mobile also recognised the invaluable role of coaches in the success of the participants.
The best coach was awarded a 10-inch tablet for adults, while the best coach for the Basics 1-4 category and the best coach for the Basics 5-9 category each received a tablet.

Tiffany’s win is even more remarkable considering she was a first-time participant.
The top contenders, from second to fifth place, demonstrated that dedication and hard work truly pay off.
Notably, aside from Kacey Antwi, who is a Grade 9 speller, all the other top finishers are upper primary students, showcasing the exceptional talents of younger learners.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parents, school directors and heads, coaches, our sponsors Homii Mobile, and our media partners, the Multimedia Group, especially Joy Prime TV, for their invaluable partnership and support.
The event concluded beautifully, with every participant acknowledged for their efforts.
