Former GHALCA Chairman Joseph Yaw Appiah is calling for a major security overhaul in Ghana's football league after a tragic incident claimed the life of Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley.
Pooley was confirmed dead after being stabbed during Kotoko's clash with Nsoatreman in week 19 of the Premier League in Nsoatre.
Speaking on JoyNews' Prime Take with Muftawu Abdulai Nabila, Appiah urged the Football Association to prioritize security at all match centers.
"We must tighten up our security, it requires money but money can’t buy life.
"We should not think about money, the FA should provide adequate security for both home and away teams.
If there’s a match going on, we must bring at least 20 policemen to the match."
The GFA has taken steps to address the issue, suspending the league and launching an investigation into the incident.
The Ghana Police Service has also made seven arrests in connection with the tragedy.
