Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has rendered an apology to fans after their elimination from the MTN FA Cup to Division One League side PAC Academy.
Medeama suffered a 4-2 loss on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the TNA Stadium on Sunday.
The Premier League side failed to capitalise on home advantage as PAC Academy proved more clinical in the shootout, securing a famous victory.
Tanko, who joined the club last month, promised to deliver trophies for the club but has his options limited following their setback in the cup competition.
Tanko, disappointed in the performance, had to apologise to the supporters after the game.
"Honestly I am very disappointed we are out at this stage. When it comes to the MTN FA Cup there's no minor division one or division two team" he said.
" told them (players) before the game that if you bring your eighty per cent and PAC Academy brings a hundred per cent, they will beat you because they also know how to play.
"[The] first half was a very disappointing performance but I think in the second half we did well but the goal did not come but it is very unfortunate we are out. I am very sorry to the fans, we hope that the next games will be better"
Medeama were not the only Premier League side to be knocked out of the MTN FA Cup round of 16.
Hearts of Oak were sent packing by Division One side Golden Kick after a dramatic penalty shootout while Bibiani GoldStars also were kicked out by Attram de Viser.
