Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has shifted focus to Ghana’s crucial clash against Madagascar after his team’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Goals from Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohamed Salifu, and Ernest Nuamah secured all three points for the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium, propelling them to the top of Group I with 12 points — two ahead of second-placed Madagascar, whom they face on Monday, March 24, in Morocco.
Speaking after the game, Otto Addo stressed the importance of maintaining their position at the top of the table.
“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot,” he noted.
He also acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming fixture but emphasised the need to stay focused.
“There’s nothing we can do [about the fixture schedule]; we have to accept it. It will be tough; they [Madagascar] have a really good team,” he said.
Addo further highlighted the urgency of preparations ahead of the game.
“The preparations start now, and it’s good that we won so we can focus on Madagascar,” he added.
A win in that match would further solidify the Black Stars’ place at the top and move them closer to securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
