The Sports and Recreation Ministry, led by Kofi Adams, has hailed the leadership of the Ghana Swimming Association for the upsurge of the sport in Ghana.
The country’s swimming governing body, led by President Mrs. Delphina Quaye, Treasurer Ayishatu Farida Iddriss, and others including Mr. Charles W. Mensah, Adolf A. Ankrah, Mr. Seth Nti, Amerley Nuno Amarteifio, and Asaah Simeon, officially paid a courtesy call on the Minister on Thursday, April 10, following his ascension to the hot seat.
At the meeting, Adams, who is also a Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency, commended the GSA’s efforts in promoting swimming and assured them of full support.
He further called for competitions to be hosted at the Borteyman Sports Complex to help maintain it in shape.
In response, GSA President Mrs. Delphina expressed her outfit’s commitment to ensuring the success of the Minister.
“The Swimming Association is ever ready to work with you to succeed as the new Sports and Recreation Minister,” she stated.
Up next for the Swimming Association is to oversee Ghana’s performance at the 16th Africa Aquatics Junior Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
Eight athletes will represent the country at the four-day continental event.
They include Oduma Agyei, Yemen Bozuma Cornie, Jacob Kaleem, Michael Crabbe-Mann, Johnson Gyarko, Jada Yankey, Tamba Akin Boamah, and Rihana Yankey, headed by coach Kenneth Ankrah.
