The newly elected leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), led by President Richard Akpokavie Esq., has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, to formally introduce themselves and seek his support as they begin their tenure.
The meeting took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Accra.
Adams welcomed the delegation, praising the GOC for the peaceful organisation of their recent elective congress and applauded the committee for upholding its image.
The Minister also stressed the importance of collective effort in pushing Ghana’s sporting agenda forward, stating: “we will succeed only when we work together.”
Following the engagement with the Minister, the GOC delegation proceeded to the Accra Sports Stadium to meet the leadership of the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Acting Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.
The visit was aimed at strengthening ties and seeking access to facilities for national athletes in preparation for upcoming international competitions.

"We wanted to emphasize the fact that we are working together," GOC President Richard Akpokavie exclusively told JoySports.
"Collaboration is important because for the Ministry, NSA and GOC, we need to work together so that we can achieve our objectives."
Other GOC officials present included Alhaji Kamal Sulley, Nana Mankata II, Edwin Amankwa, Rafatu Inusah, Samuel Ayeh, Nii Lante Bannerman, Mawuko Afadzinu (1st Vice President), Delphina Quaye, Mohammed Muniru Kassim (General Secretary), Yeboah Evans (Treasurer), George Lamptey, and Ernest Danso (3rd Vice President).
