AngloGold Ashanti has commissioned a soap factory at Dokyiwa in the Obuasi West Municipal to achieve goals under its Enterprise Development Programme.
The investment valued at 1.8 million cedis is deemed a valuable step towards strengthening the local economy and enhancing the quality of life in communities.

According to the Community Relations Officer for AngloGold Ashanti, Edmond Oduro Adjei, the 1.8 million dollar soap factory will create job opportunities and bring significant benefits to the people of Dokyiwa.
The project is part of an ambitious 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan, made possible by the committed collaboration of local contractors, Xmell Company Limited and MC Hammer Company Limited. Their combined expertise and dedicated efforts are driving this initiative forward.

Edmond emphasized that the Obuasi mine is actively implementing transformative livelihood enhancement projects designed to empower women entrepreneurs.
The Dokyiwa Soap Factory recognizes the critical role that women play in driving community development.

AngloGold provided 35 women with six months’ worth of raw materials to produce liquid and bar soaps.
