The Minister for Defence and outgoing Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has called on party members to deepen their commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and accountability as the NDC marks its 33rd anniversary.
He made the call in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 10, as the party commemorated over three decades of political activism and democratic engagement.
Dr Boamah paid tribute to the party’s forebears, acknowledging their pioneering role in shaping the NDC into what he described as a “robust entity”.
Reflecting on the party’s performance in the 2024 elections, he emphasised the significance of “problem identification, innovation, unity, collaboration, and determination” in achieving collective success.
He noted that advancing the NDC’s agenda would depend greatly on harnessing well-trained human resources and technology to improve electoral processes.
“In this regard, we must promote inclusivity, transparency and accountability and foster trust and credibility in our democratic processes,” Dr Boamah stated.
He further stressed the need for electoral reforms that uphold fairness and justice.
“We must not only advocate for a level playing field that empowers every Ghanaian's voice to be heard and every vote to count, but also we must take legitimate, decisive steps to achieve that,” he added, urging collaborative efforts with stakeholders towards building a more transparent system.
He also reassured the NDC’s youth of their place in the party’s future.
“While commending our NDC forebears for their foundational work and our youth for their dynamism and passion, I wish to assure that opportunities are being created for each and everyone of you. We shall not leave you behind!” he declared.
