The Greater Accra Regional Police Command says a man who is at the centre of the alleged killing an immigration officer who went missing for days has been giving conflicting statements.
The suspect, Bright Aweh, who allegedly called the deceased into a meeting, told police he gave an amount of GH₵500,000 to the late officer to be used to settle a debt and keep the rest for him. But he has failed to provide information on the source of the money.
A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, revealed the suspect on July 3, 2025, sent images of bundles of cash to the deceased via WhatsApp.

He then requested that the officer, Steffen King Amoah, meet him at a spot at Ashongman Estate at about 8:00 p.m. to settle some debts.
During interrogation, Aweh admitted he gave an amount of GH₵500,000 to the deceased to settle some debts and hold the remaining amount for later collection.
But police statements say the suspect has been giving conflicting statements.
The burnt body of 38-year-old immigration officer, Steffen King Amoah, who was declared missing on July 3, 2025, was discovered in a gutter at a spot near GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate, in Accra.
Police say despite the extent of the burns, relatives identified the body to be that of the missing officer.
A team of investigators from Taifa police swiftly moved into action upon receipt of complaints of the missing immigration officer.
This led to the arrest of 32-year-old Bright Aweh.
While condemning the violent and criminal act, the Greater Accra regional police command assures the public of diligent investigations and also requests the public to volunteer information on the incident.
