Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says she can describe the team's 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as a success if they 'lift the trophy.'
Ghana reached the quarterfinals of the competition earlier this week when they defeated Tanzania in their final Group C game.
Chantelle was on the scoresheet for the team for the first time in the competition in the 4-1 win, which propelled them into the last eight.
In a yet-to-air exclusive interview with Joy Sports, the midfielder believes the Black Queens have earned the right to be respected on the continent.
"[This tournament will only be successful for me] when we take the trophy," she said. "I think we deserve it. I think we deserve the respect from African football.
"I want to give this continent so much respect, but I also want to gain it. The only way you gain it is by performing, by showing who we are.
"So a successful tournament for me is taking home the only thing that you can take home [the trophy]."
Ghana's next game is against Algeria on Saturday, July 19, at the Berkane Stadium, with hopes of advancing into the semifinals.
Ghana last made the semis in 2016, where they finished in third position.
