Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to embrace their past mistakes and use them as stepping stones for growth and renewal ahead of future elections.
Addressing delegates at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra on Saturday, Dr Bawumia urged party faithful not to shy away from their shortcomings but rather confront them with honesty and resolve.
"We have also learnt useful lessons. We must remain resolute and consistent in doing the right thing and applying the lessons the next time. We must ensure that Ghanaians genuinely see the lessons we have learnt and are willing to apply them next time; we shouldn't be shy about them, it is then that our fellow countrymen and women will give us another chance to serve."
He cautioned against allowing opposition parties to weaponise the NPP’s past missteps in subsequent elections. According to him, the best defence lies in demonstrating that the party has drawn valuable lessons and is committed to doing better.
