Black Queens forward Sherifa Sumaila has thrown her full support behind Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren as Ghana prepares for a crucial WAFCON 2024 semifinal clash against hosts Morocco.
After a sluggish start to the tournament, the Black Queens have found momentum and now stand just one step away from their first final since 2006.
Their semifinal test, however, comes against a formidable Moroccan side — runners-up in the previous edition and buoyed by home support.
Speaking ahead of the all important encounter, Sumaila expressed confidence in the team’s tactical direction and unity.
“We trust our coach, and all we need to do is follow the game plan,” she said. “We’re also doing our best to motivate and guide the younger players with the experience we’ve gathered.”
The semifinal will be played at the Stade Olympique de Rabat on Tuesday, July 22, with a coveted place in the WAFCON 2024 final up for grabs.
