New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed confidence that his party will choose him as its presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
Addressing the media after receiving the NPP nomination forms picked on his behalf on Thursday, August 14, Dr Adutwum said, "We are on track, and by the grace of God, my party, I believe, will vote for me and make me the flagbearer of the NPP."
He emphasised that the party’s victory in 2028 would mark the beginning of a transformative journey.
"And after that, I will be on the journey to the promised land. The land that our nation has been yearning for years, that our nation will become a prosperous one. Our nation will wage war against poverty and win. That the poverty and deprivation will be over," he stated.
He explained that the 2028 campaign would focus on building a stronger and more self-reliant nation.
"That is what the campaign of 2028 will be about. To be about a country that hadn't been independent for many years ago. We've done our very best. From the first president to the current president, each one of them has done something great. Yet, we have a lot to do. And that is what Adutwum's presidency will be about."
Dr Adutwum urged party members to back his bid.
"My party, give me the opportunity. Provide a bridge for me to cross to the other side. And once we get to the other side of the river, we are going to meet Ghanaians and let Ghanaians know that our future is going to be better than the present and the past," he concluded.
