At the August 15 State Burial for the eight Ghanaians who perished in the August 6 military helicopter crash, the wife of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala shared a moving tribute that brought tears to many in attendance.
The message, delivered on her behalf by a family member, painted a portrait of a man whose life was defined by excellence, humility, deep faith, and love.
She described her late husband as a remarkable soul, brilliant, kind, and devoted to God, whose integrity and simplicity left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
Though his military duties often kept them apart, she said their bond remained unbroken through constant communication and shared prayers.

Earlier this year, Peter Anala travelled to the United Kingdom to support her as they welcomed their first child, a “precious blessing” whose christening had been planned for October.
In her tribute, she revealed that before his return to Ghana, Anala confided in his mother about a troubling dream.
The family prayed fervently for his protection, but on the morning of August 6, an unusual restlessness kept them awake in prayer.

Messages of love and blessings sent to him that day went unanswered, and hours later, the devastating news confirmed their worst fears.
“Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we surrender to God’s will, trusting that He knows best,” she said, adding that cherished memories of their time together and the love they shared would be their comfort.
She prayed for God’s guidance over their newborn child and strength for all the families affected by the tragedy.
“Peter, our hero, our light,” her message concluded, “you fought a good fight. You finished your race. You kept the faith. Until we meet again in God’s glory.”
