Head pastor at Rehoboth Network of Churches, Reverend Captain Dr. Henry Godson-Afful, has called on religious leaders across the country to actively join the campaign against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, 16th August, he lamented the devastating impact of the menace and urged Christian and Muslim leaders to feature the fight against galamsey in their sermons and teachings.
"I am also calling on the churches; we have a role to play. This is something that affects all of us; we need to start putting this into our Sunday morning services, educating people."
"Let us even put it into our curriculum," he added.

According to him, the moral authority of the pulpit and the mosque can play a crucial role in shaping attitudes, rallying communities, and strengthening the national resolve to end the practice once and for all because those into the act are either Christians or Muslims.
