Thomas Partey made his Villarreal debut as they ran out 2-0 winners against Real Oviedo on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Estadi de la Ceràmica.

The Ghana deputy captain was introduced in the 82nd minute, replacing Santi Comesaña, to help see out the victory against the newly promoted side.

The 32-year-old joined the Yellow Submarine this summer after leaving Arsenal at the expiration of his contract.

Partey’s move comes amid legal issues, as the midfielder has been charged with five counts of rape against two women and one count of sexual assault against a third woman by Westminster Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.

On the pitch, Etta Eyong opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Pape Gueye doubled Villarreal’s advantage in the 36th.

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo, instrumental in Real Oviedo’s promotion campaign last season, played the full 90 minutes on his LaLiga debut.
