The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible by-election in Akwatia on September 2, following the passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
Deputy Director of Research at the EC, Fred Tetteh, speaking on Channel One TV on Wednesday, August 20, assured constituents that the necessary arrangements had been finalised to guarantee a peaceful and orderly poll.
“The Commission will do everything within its capacity to ensure that logistics, arrangements, training and all other requirements are adequately provided to make the election smooth and peaceful,” he stated.
According to him, logistical preparations and the nomination process have already been completed, while training for EC officials is currently in progress ahead of the vote.
