The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), has inaugurated a new board of directors for GNPC Exploration and Production Limited (Explorco), tasking them with the responsibility of strengthening Ghana’s oil exploration efforts.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Jinapor underscored the importance of increasing the country’s oil reserves to secure long-term energy sustainability and revenue growth.
“The goal is to ensure a sustainable increase in oil reserves, which will contribute significantly to the country’s revenue and energy security,” he stated.
The Minister urged the board to adopt innovative strategies and work diligently to expand exploration activities in line with Ghana’s broader energy transition agenda.
He emphasised that Explorco had a critical role to play in balancing fossil fuel production with the nation’s commitment to green energy development.
The newly constituted board comprises Dr Aaron Issa Anafure, Samuel Opoku Arthur (Ag. Managing Director), Stella Bondzie, Mr Kwame Ntow Amoah, and Benjamin Narteh Ayiku.
Together, they are expected to provide strategic direction for Explorco as it scales up exploration and production activities.
Mr. Jinapor expressed confidence in the board’s capacity to deliver on its mandate and assured them of the Ministry’s support.
He added that their work would be vital in positioning Ghana’s oil and gas sector as a pillar of the national economy while maintaining a steady focus on the transition to renewable energy.
