The Black Stars have assured the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, of their determination to bounce back from recent setbacks as they prepare for Monday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali.
The Minister visited the team’s camp on Saturday in what he described as a morale-boosting engagement. He reminded the players of their unique talents, global exposure, and the hopes of millions of Ghanaians, while expressing confidence in their ability to deliver.
“I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around,” Hon. Adams told the squad, stressing that his purpose was not to criticise but to encourage and support.
Responding to the Minister, the players and technical staff pledged to respond decisively on Monday.
Head coach Otto Addo reaffirmed that the team remains focused on qualification and highlighted the advantage of playing on a natural grass pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A senior player summed up the team’s resolve, saying: “We know what went wrong, and we are determined to correct it. The win is coming.”
The Ministry noted that the visit was part of its ongoing commitment to stand with the national teams during difficult moments as well as provide the necessary resources.
The Black Stars will face Mali on September 8, 2025, in Accra in a fixture seen as pivotal to Ghana’s World Cup qualification hopes.
