Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, will on Thursday, 11th September, attend the Asogli Women’s Day Celebration, a key highlight of this year’s Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival).
The Women’s Day event, to be held at the GM Afeti Auditorium of the Ho Technical University, is themed “Empowering Women for Inclusive Development.”
It seeks to provide a platform for women’s empowerment through initiatives in trade, industry, skills training and free health screening, spearheaded by the Queens of the Asogli State.

The Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV, will be present at the celebration, alongside the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu.
The Vice President, as a special guest of honour, is expected to deliver an address and engage extensively with women in attendance.

The Asogli Te Za, a fertility festival that marks the harvest of new yams, is widely celebrated with a rich lineup of activities, including an Anti-Corruption Day, the Summit of Ewe Chiefs, and a Youth Empowerment Day. The popular Asogli carnival, featuring the ceremonial hailing of the new yams, will be held on Friday, 26th September.
Other events include the annual Asogli Marathon, an inter-divisional football match, and, for the first time, an Asogli Golf Tournament to be staged at the Adonai Estates Golf Course near the Ho Airport.
The festivities will climax with the sitting in state of Togbe Afede XIV on Friday, 3rd October, followed by the grand durbar of chiefs and people of Asogli on Sunday, 5th October.
