This morning on Newsfile, host Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panel of experts examined citizens’ growing alarm over the devastating impact of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey. Many are calling for a state of emergency and prosecutions to confront what has been described as an existential threat to the nation.
The show also explored the lawsuit filed by former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who is challenging President Mahama’s warrant of removal from office as a Supreme Court judge.
The discussion turned to NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s nationwide “thank-you” tour. While officially aimed at showing gratitude to grassroots supporters, analysts believe the move also positions him to consolidate influence ahead of future internal contests.
