The Prestea District Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspected armed robbers, including two military officers and two civilians, for attempting to rob LongShine Mining Company Limited, located at Obouhu, a suburb of Prestea.
Police reports indicate that the gang comprised six suspects — two military officers and four civilians. However, two of the civilians managed to escape, leaving the remaining four in police custody.
According to the police, the command received a tip-off from the company’s security guards and management about the attempted robbery, which occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

The two other suspects are currently at large.
The four arrested have since been transferred from the Prestea Police Command to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command for further investigations.
The suspects reportedly used a brand-new Toyota pickup with registration number GN 6116-25 for the operation, which has since been impounded by the police.
Security guards at the mining site said the robbers assaulted them and attempted to force their way into the company’s gold room.
