The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect and recovered weapons following a violent clash between two rival groups at Simpa in the Nsuaem District.
According to the police, the incident occurred on September 28 near the Simpa Sawmill. Officers received a distress call about an armed confrontation between two groups, one led by Daniel Cudjoe, also known as Kwame Ato Asare, and the other from Dadwen, led by suspects Alhassan and Abolo, who are currently on the run.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Western Central Regional Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 30.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that suspect Daniel Cudjoe alias Ato Asare, 25 years old, together with his deceased brother Emmanuel Cudjoe, 23 years old, and ten others now at large, confronted the Dadwen group after receiving information that the Dadwen group, led by suspects Alhassan and Abolo, had destroyed his mining equipment at a mining site,” the statement said.

Police reported that the confrontation escalated into an exchange of gunfire, leading to the death of Emmanuel Cudjoe.
Items retrieved from the scene included two pump-action guns, three machetes, four motorbikes, a tricycle, and regalia.
ASP Turkson assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the police will bring all suspects to justice.
“The Police Command assures the general public that investigations are ongoing to arrest all persons involved to face the full rigours of the law,” she stated.
