Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, says he’s happy with the performance of the team following the win over Central African Republic (CAR)
The Black Stars defeated Central African Republic on Wednesday evening to edge closer to secure a slot at next year’s global showpiece.
Four goals in the second half added to Mohammed Salisu’s opening goal in the first half as Ghana claimed a 5-0 win.
According to Appiah who was at the stadium for Wednesday’s fixture, the scoreline came as a big surprise as he lauded the team’s performance.
“I am so happy. The players have made us proud and we are looking forward to Sunday,” he told Joy Sports.
“We are here because of the players. They have made us proud. Per what I saw at the two training sessions, I knew we were going to win but I wasn’t expecting 5-0.”
Ghana sit three points clear of Group I with Madagascar in second position ahead of the last round of games.
