Former Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, is calling for only players who have shown genuine commitment to Ghana to be invited for the World Cup.
Ghana’s Black Stars have once again booked their ticket to the FIFA World Cup after defeating Comoros to seal qualification for the 2026 global showpiece - their fifth in history.
The qualification has reignited debates over whether the national team should open its doors to foreign-born players yet to fully commit to Ghana.
Names like Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi have resurfaced in discussions about possible call-ups.
But Sannie Daara believes the focus should not just be on talent, but also on loyalty.
“This is not a club side, this is a country. Yes, we want to get a good result but we must also have pride,” he told JoySports.
“People must also not take us for granted. Just because you want to play for the World Cup, you choose to play for Ghana and then afterwards, you will pick and choose which matches you will want to play for, that I am not for.
“Any player that will come must pass first, the commitment to Ghana before we consider those players.”
The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is set for December 5 in Washington, where Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents.
