Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Randy Abbey has reiterated the position of Otto Addo as the team’s head coach, praising him for doing well “on the basis of data.”
Under the tutelage of the former Dortmund trainer, Ghana were winless in six AFCON qualifying matches, which saw them miss out on this year’s continental event, which kicks off in December in Morocco – for the first time since 2004.
However, Otto guided the team to five wins in the final six World Cup qualifiers to secure qualification for the global tournament.
The 50-year-old is the first Ghanaian to lead the senior national team to back-to-back World Cup qualifications after doing so for the 2022 edition.
However, concerns continue to grow about his ability to lead the team on the global stage.
"On the basis of the data, you cannot say that he's done a bad job. Otto Addo is the coach of the Black Stars, and that position has not changed," Randy told Asempa FM.
"Any Ghanaian has the right to express their view and open a discussion [about Otto Addo].
He [Otto Addo] has a contract which has not ended, and his employers have not said anything. He has just qualified for the World Cup, and I think we should celebrate that and focus on how we will prepare our team."
Meanwhile, the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is set for December 5 in Washington, where Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents.
