Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he is preparing for a grand white wedding with his fiancée, Maali.
Speaking on PrimeTime with George Quaye on Joy Prime television, the 'Street Crown' hitmaker said although he has already performed some customary rites, he is saving towards an elaborate church wedding.
When asked about his marital status, Shatta responded, “I am married already. Or is it because I have not said it?”
He explained that he has met Maali’s family and received their blessing.
“I felt the only appropriate thing I have done with Maali is meeting her parents with a couple of people and her father has really accepted me,” he said.
He added that he presented drinks and other items as part of the traditional introduction.
The artiste said he intends to hold a church ceremony when the time is right. “I am saving for that. I am saving for my grand wedding,” he noted.
Shatta Wale and Maali, whose full name is Maali Della Tetteh, have been publicly linked since early 2023. Their relationship gained attention after the musician released a song titled Maali, which he later said was inspired by her. The couple share a child together, a fact that Shatta has proudly spoken about in several interviews, describing fatherhood with Maali as one of the most grounding experiences of his life.
The two often share affectionate moments on social media, with Shatta describing Maali as his “peace” and “biggest motivation.”
The musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has previously been engaged but has made it clear that his relationship with Maali feels different.
