Members of the 2000-year group of Mawuli School in the Volta Region will hand over the renovated White Block to commemorate its 25th anniversary of completing second cycle of education.
The initiative which saw the Block renovated at the cost of GH₵300,000 was intended to preserve an important element of the school’s history and pay a glorious tribute to the institution for shaping their lives.
The project was executed in three phases, including structural repair, roofing and painting, replacement of classroom furniture, and modernization of interior facilities. This was aimed at enhancing the learning environment by elevating it to meet current educational standards.
A communique signed by the Group's Media and Publicity Chairperson, Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi indicated that the structure was carefully selected as the batch's legacy project due to the important role it played in the education of the members and hence became a symbolic architecture in their lives during school and aftermath.

“For many members of the 2000 Year Group, the “White Block” is where they began their academic journey, built lifelong friendships, and developed the discipline and values that shaped their professional and personal lives”, he said
He further indicated that the renovation was conceived with three core objectives, thus: preservation of heritage improvement of learning conditions, and inspiration for future generations.
“Preservation of heritage – to restore and maintain one of the oldest and most symbolic structures on campus. Improvement of learning conditions – to provide a renewed, conducive environment for teaching and learning. Inspiration for future generations – to set an example of giving back and stewardship for younger Mawulians and future year groups”, he explained.
The White Block: which has been identified as a "symbol of heritage and transition" was among the school’s foundational structures. Being an architectural landmark steeped in memory and tradition, it served as one of the first classroom complexes and was instrumental in the nurturing of thousands of Mawulians over generations.
“Beyond its physical presence, the Block symbolises the formative journey of Mawuli students. For decades, it has hosted classes, examinations, student group meetings, and even moments of quiet reflection for those who passed through its corridors.”

“For many alumni, the building represents the starting point of their educational and personal growth, making it one of the most emotionally significant spaces on campus”, Mr. Kanyi said.
The handing-over ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 26th October 2025, at 12:30 PM, at the forecourt of the White Block Building on the Mawuli School campus.
There will be a donation to the Ho Central Female Prisons on Friday, 24th October 2025, where members of the group will spend time with inmates and prison officials to encourage and inspire them.
The visit to the Ho Female Prisons is one of several key events planned for the weekend, which also includes a convoy participation in Mawuli School's 75 float, a 90s-themed social night, among others.
