The Bank of Ghana (BoG), in partnership with Currency Research, is hosting the four-day Cedi@60 Anniversary Currency Conference at the Accra International Conference Centre, running from November 17–20, 2025.
The landmark international event commemorates 60 years since the Ghanaian Cedi was introduced as the nation's sole legal tender in 1965.
Bringing together over 600 leaders from central banks, financial institutions, government agencies, and the fintech sector across Africa and globally, the conference's core focus is to reflect on the Cedi's legacy as a symbol of economic sovereignty and to chart its future in the digital age.
Key discussions on the agenda include:
- Macroeconomic Stability and restoring trust in the currency.
- The Digital Transition, with focus on Ghana's groundbreaking eCedi pilot project.
- The role of Fintech and Inclusion in expanding financial services.
- Debates on Crypto and Stablecoins in the African context.
The event marks the culmination of the Cedi@60 anniversary celebrations, positioning Ghana as a key player in the conversation about the future of sovereign digital currencies.
