The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), William Agyapong, accompanied by members of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, chaired by James Agalga, visited the El Wak Stadium to oversee the resumption of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise on Thursday, 20 November.

The visit comes after the recruitment process was briefly halted following a tragic stampede at the stadium on Wednesday, 12 November, which claimed the lives of six female applicants and left several others injured.

The team is set to inspect the various centres established for screening, physical assessments, and eligibility verification, noting a more structured and controlled process compared with the period before the suspension.

Meanwhile, chairs have been provided across the screening lanes to allow applicants to sit while waiting their turn, one of the key safety adjustments recommended after the tragedy.
