Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Victor Emmanuel Smith, has pledged the Embassy’s full support to help make Ghana’s participation in the upcoming World Cup tournament memorable.
He said the Mission would work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to address coordination needs linked to the tournament’s multi-city schedule and to advance Ghana’s broader agenda around the competition.
Ambassador Smith made the remarks when the President of the GFA, Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku paid a courtesy call on him in the United States to discuss Ghana’s placement for the tournament and preparations ahead of the World Cup.

He was optimistic about Ghana’s participation stressing that Ghana has experienced players who would do the country proud.
Mr. Simeon-Okraku in a remark said Ghana had been placed in Pot 4, Group L, alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, adding that the group arrangement would require playing across multiple venues—Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto which he said could present logistical challenges for the team and its supporting delegation.
The GFA President said the Association expected close cooperation from the Embassy before and during the tournament to support the team’s operations and help push Ghana’s interests on the global stage, describing the World Cup as a major platform for the country with worldwide attention.
He also announced that the GFA would launch new national team jerseys in Washington, D.C., and said the Association would take advantage of the World Cup to establish camps to identify and source young talent for the future.
Both Ambassador Smith and the GFA President after the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to work together to ensure the plans outlined are delivered and to support Ghana towards a successful tournament campaign.
