A major fire that tore through a cluster of makeshift commercial and residential structures near SoccerBet in Tudu was fully contained Wednesday following a multi-station firefighting effort, authorities confirmed.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) mounted a rapid response after the fire erupted early Wednesday, deploying four fire engines from the Accra City, Ministries, Industrial Area stations, and the GNFS National Headquarters.
Crews battled the flames for several hours, successfully preventing the blaze from spreading to adjacent buildings. No casualties have been reported.
As of Wednesday afternoon, firefighters remained on scene for overhauling operations, dousing lingering hotspots and ensuring the area is fully secure.
In a statement, the GNFS characterized the incident as an early sign of what is predicted to be an active fire season in 2026. The service urged heightened public vigilance and strict adherence to fire safety measures in homes and businesses.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway. Further updates will be provided as details emerge.
