An Emirates Airbus A380 en route from Dubai to São Paulo has reportedly diverted to Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra.
The diversion is reportedly due to a smoke indication detected in the aircraft’s cargo hold, according to aviation sources.

This marks only the third time an A380 has landed at KIA, and the second involving an Emirates aircraft. The first Emirates A380 to land in Accra was in October 2018.
Further details on the cause of the smoke alert and the resumption of the flight are awaited from Emirates Airlines.
