WAFCON 2026: Who could Black Queens face in group stage?

The draw for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) takes place in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The Black Queens of Ghana are among 16 teams that have qualified for the tournament, which will also be staged in Morocco.

The 2026 edition of the WAFCON will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup to be hosted in Brazil.

Ahead of Thursday's draw, Kim Lars Bjorkegren's side are in Pot 1 alongside Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa.

Here are the possible opponents for the Black Queens:

Pot 2: Zambia, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire and Algeria.

Pot 3: Senegal, Mali, Egypt and Burkina Faso.

Pot 4: Cape Verde, Tanzania, Kenya and Malawi.

The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled to commence on March 17, with the final slated for April 3.

The Black Queens finished third in the last edition which was played last year in Morocco, beating South Africa in the third place playoff game.

Nigeria are the defending champions having beaten the host in the final.
