The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has approved the promotion of all members of the Police Royal Ladies, a special all-female unit of the Ghana Police Service named in honour of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The decision follows two ceremonial parades of honour mounted by the group for the Asantehene — the first at the Police Headquarters on January 6, 2026, and the second during the first Akwasidae celebration of the year at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Speaking at the Akwasidae event, the IGP said the guard of honour by the Police Royal Ladies was intended as a mark of the Service’s deep appreciation for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s historic visit to the Police Headquarters.
