The ruling National Democratic Congress's (NDC) Baba Jamal M. Ahmed has officially been sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East after winning the recent by-election in the constituency.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 10, in Parliament, where the oath of office was administered by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.
Baba Jamal’s re-entry into Parliament follows a by-election conducted in the Ayawaso East constituency following the demise of the former MP.
He resigned his position as Ghana's ambassador to Nigeria to contest the NDC's primary, which he won despite a huge controversy over vote-buying.

The by-election attracted keen political attention when allegations of vote buying were observed during the NDC’s parliamentary primary held on February 7.
Speaking after administering the oath, Speaker Bagbin said, "You voluntarily offered yourself to serve the good people of the Ayawaso East Constituency. In your campaign, you stated that you want to serve them as a member of Parliament," he told Baba Jamal.
"You are going to serve Ghana, and not as a High Commissioner; I am going to hold you as my son. I will hold you accountable to the good people of the Ayawaso East constituency," the Speaker added.
Mr Jamal once served as MP for Akwatia in the Eastern Region from 2009 to 2013.
