She made the call during the 25th-anniversary celebration of the enthronement of Nana Mprah Besemuna III, the Krachiwura, held under the theme: “25 Years of Transformational Leadership: A Call to Revive Our Heritage and Rebuild Our Alliances.”
The Vice President highlighted the critical role of chieftaincy in national development, describing traditional leaders as indispensable partners in governance and community transformation.
She noted that strong and stable traditional institutions provide a solid foundation for inclusive and sustainable development.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang commended the Krachiwura for his contributions to promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic progress in the Krachi Traditional Area.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to decentralisation, stressing that empowering local governance structures would enhance development planning and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
She encouraged the youth to take advantage of emerging economic opportunities, including the government’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, to drive growth and innovation, particularly in the Oti Region.
In his remarks, the Krachiwura expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged to continue championing development initiatives in the area, with a focus on infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.
The colourful durbar attracted chiefs, opinion leaders, government officials, residents and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Krachi people.
