The Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in the Oti Region has announced a breakthrough in the ongoing investigations into the recent communal violence at Nkwanta South.
A statement signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr John Nchor, said a joint security task force had arrested six suspects in connection with the disturbances.
The statement said that two suspects were apprehended on March 29, 2026, and four others on March 31, 2026, following intelligence-led operations.
It said all six suspects were currently in police custody and were assisting with investigations.
The police statement urged residents of Nkwanta and nearby communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies by providing credible information to aid ongoing efforts.
It again cautioned the public against the spread of misinformation and any actions that could further inflame tensions, stressing the need to maintain peace and stability in the area.
