The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has cautioned contractors working on road projects across the country against attributing delays in project execution to adverse weather conditions.

He urged contractors to properly plan their activities around seasonal changes and adopt suitable construction schedules to ensure that projects are completed within agreed timelines.

Mr. Agbodza gave the caution during an inspection of the rehabilitation of selected town roads in Jasikan, Dodo Pepesu, Nkwanta and Dambai as part of his nationwide road inspection tour of the Eastern, Volta and Oti Regions.

The Minister acknowledged that rainfall can sometimes affect construction activities but stressed that contractors are expected to factor weather patterns into their work plans and take advantage of favourable conditions to maintain progress.

He emphasised that the government remains committed to delivering quality road infrastructure on schedule and expects contractors to fulfil their contractual responsibilities despite seasonal challenges.

“The weather does not change anything. You just have to know the right period to carry out the work so that you allow enough time for it to settle before the rains,” he stated.

Mr. Agbodza further urged contractors to demonstrate greater efficiency and professionalism in the execution of road projects to ensure value for money and timely completion of infrastructure critical to national development.
