The Technical Advisor to the Vice President, Dr Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama says Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should not be tagged as a liar.
Dr Mahama described a lie as a deliberate misrepresentation of facts, knowing very well there is no intention of fulfilling them.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews, February 8, he said that most of the promises made by the Vice president in the build-up to the 2016 elections were fulfilled but for a few.
“Bawumia has given a lot of promises most of such promises have been fulfilled. People only go to pick one or two that have not been fully fulfilled,” he said.
Building on this, he challenged individuals to point out a lie the Vice President told Ghanaians.
“Tell me one single lie Dr Bawumia has not been able to fulfil. I usually challenge people to tell me one single lie Dr Bawumia has ever told the people of Ghana,” he said.
The Vice President’s Technical Advisor said Ghanaians should rather ask questions about why certain promises have not seen the light of day rather than jumping to conclusions and labelling the 'honest leader as a liar'.
He stressed that “A promise not fulfilled does not make it a lie. That is the problem we have with this narrative of lies.”
The New Patriotic Party flagbearer on February 8 addressed Ghanaians on his vision for the nation and asked to be given the political mandate in the December 2024 elections.
Among several promises, Dr Bawumia said he would make National Service optional and no longer mandatory, abolish the Electronic Transactions Levy, and a host of others.
